announcing my biggest creative project yet
How do new ideas come into the world and become real?
In her book Big Magic, Liz Gilbert talks about her hypothesis that ideas choose us.
Like living, breathing beings, ideas tap us on the shoulder, offer themselves up to us, and wait for us to bring them into reality.
Ideas are patient, she says – but only for so long. After a while, if you don’t nurture the idea, it will move on to a more ready and willing creative partner.
Ideas want to live, Liz says. And I’ve always believed her.
Eight years ago, just as I was starting Wayfinders Collective, another idea tapped me on my shoulder.
A bolder, bigger, more daring idea.
I loved that idea. But I wasn’t ready for it.
I didn’t think I knew enough.
I didn’t feel credible enough.
I doubted myself and my place and my platform.
I’d also never been self-employed before. I’d never tried to make a living on my own before.
So I stuck with my plan for Wayfinders Collective – a “bold enough” idea in its own right – and put that other, more audacious idea on the shelf.
In hindsight, I can see that I needed time. I needed practice. I needed confidence. I needed evidence.
Evidence of my skills and talents having a real impact on other people.
Evidence of my methods and approach creating tangible results for my clients.
Evidence of my continued, unwavering conviction that everyone – and I mean everyone – is entitled to create and LIVE a life they love.
Fast forward to May 2025 and I’m brushing my teeth when three little words pop into my head:
My idea from all those years ago – back one final time to tap me on the shoulder.
Only this time, I was ready.
And so, it is my absolute pleasure to announce: Life Design School is open!
It’s everything I dreamed of when this idea first came to me – and now, it’s coming to life.
I thought about waiting to tell you this until I have it all ready. After all, the “online way” is to keep everything under wraps until the splashy announcement.
But that way doesn’t work for me, for my nervous system, or for the way I want to create this space.
So over the coming weeks and months, I’m going to share a behind the scenes look at what I’m building, why I’m building it, and – most importantly – how it can support you, no matter where you are in your career or life journey.
There will be big moments and milestones to celebrate (including a launch party for Richmond friends in October!). But also?
I am very intentionally building this out in the open.
Sharing my progress as I go.
Because that’s what Life Design is all about: discovering who we are, defining what matters to us, imagining new possibilities, and taking consistent, iterative steps to bring our dreams to life.
I live this way, and I work this way. And now, I am honored to get to guide you to do it, too!
Try This Out
In addition to poking around the site (which I absolutely encourage you to do!), I hope you’ll try out my latest free workbook, the Life Design Clarity Kit.
Think of it like a quick injection of reflection and inspiration – all with the goal of getting you fresh clarity in less than 30 minutes.
If you’re feeling stuck – at work or in your life – give it a go. I’d love to hear what you think!
And stay tuned, because I’ll be releasing new self-study workshops and creative resources very soon!
What to Do Next
This is maybe the scariest part of this whole thing for me: I need your help.
For Life Design School to succeed, I need to reach LOTS more people. And I’ve got plans for that (including a new YouTube series which I’m so psyched about).
But the best way to reach people? Word of mouth.
If you’re excited about this new direction…
If you’ve been supported by my work…
If you’ve learned something new through this newsletter or my social media content…
Would you please help me share the news?
Forward this newsletter to a friend and encourage them to download the Clarity Kit.
Post on social media about the Life Design Shop (and please tag me).
Recommend me as a guest speaker to your women’s group, professional development association or other community you belong to.
The idea of Life Design School was originally mine, but it’s becoming real because of all of us.
Thank you, thank you. I can’t wait to see what it becomes – together.
Onward,
