throw yourself the party

On Tuesday I did something I’ve never done before: I threw myself a party.

Not for my birthday or another life milestone. But a party to celebrate my SUCCESS.

[Have you ever done this?!]

October 7, 2025 marked the first birthday of my guided journal collection, “100 Days of Designing My Life.” This was a moment I knew I wanted to recognize.

Plus, I felt strongly that Life Design School – my new creative studio for people in career and life transition – needed a moment in the spotlight, too.

So I set the date, reserved the space, and sent out save the dates. I made swag, ordered food, and picked up balloons.

It wasn’t until I saw the cake I’d ordered that it hit me: I’m really doing this!

And suddenly, little Ashley stepped into the conversation with lots of doubts:

  • Is it ok to showcase myself like this?

  • Will people think I’m self-absorbed?

  • Is it safe to call attention to myself?

I’ll come out and say it: I felt a jolt of fear. But as they say, the show must go on… and I’m so glad it did.

Standing in that room later that day – supported by my friends, family and community – I felt it all:

Joy. Pride. Appreciation. Encouragement. And gratitude. So much gratitude.

  • For the people who love and support me.

  • For the gifts I’ve received and I’m able to share.

  • For the blessings and whispers from the Universe… to keep going, to keep being brave, to keep celebrating.

Even all these days later, I am still waking up with a smile and a full heart.

Because I get to do this amazing work with incredible people like you. And I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Try This Out

When was the last time you celebrated your success?

Maybe this looks like throwing yourself a party (I’m telling you: it’s addictive!). But it doesn’t have to. Celebrating yourself might look like:

  • Proposing a toast at happy hour with friends to acknowledge a brave action you took

  • Gifting yourself a meaningful present or keepsake to mark a recent success

  • Cancelling your ‘lukewarm’ plans and crawling into bed with your favorite book (sometimes, a quiet few hours alone can be its own celebration!).

Use me as your permission slip and inspiration! It really is the BEST
