Hi, I’m Ashley Jablow – coach, artist, and creator of “100 Days of Designing My Life.”

In March of 2020, life as we knew it came to screeching halt. In a moment where almost nothing made sense, I chose to pick up my paintbrush.

What tumbled out of me was this project: 100 Days of Designing My Life.

Combining my expertise in design thinking and innovation, my formal training as a professional coach, and my unique ability to put visuals and metaphors to some of our deepest life questions, these 100 watercolors have become a touchstone for myself and everyone yearning to better understand themselves and navigate changes at work and in life.

Volume 1 is an especially curated group of 25 watercolors designed to support you to discover – and in some cases, rediscover – who you are and what matters to you at this stage of your life.

Over the course of 2024, I plan to release three additional volumes: Define (Summer 2024), Imagine (Fall 2024) and Iterate (Winter 2024). Together, they’ll guide you through the four most important behaviors and mindsets to practice as we design careers and lives we love.

Excerpt from Volume 1: What Gives You Energy?

What gives you energy – and what takes it away?

I’m betting there are certain topics and activities you could engage with for hours, and never feel tired. There are also probably people in your life who ignite your energy and whose collaborations and conversations put you in a state of flow. Think of these like gusts of wind that give you energy and propel your sailboat forward.

Conversely, there are situations, topics or relationships that drain your energy and weigh you down. These are the anchors that slow your pace, or maybe even keep you stuck completely.

Whether it's your job, your coworkers, that home repair project you've been avoiding, or the big life change you've been mulling over – take a moment to consider what gives you energy, and what takes it away?

  • Pull out your calendar and look at the activities, meetings, and to-do’s of the past week. Which ones gave you energy and put wind in your sails, and which ones drained your energy and weighed you down?

  • Do you notice any patterns amongst the ‘energy givers’ and the ‘energy drainers?’ What commonalities appear – and what’s important about that?

  • What changes, if any, would you ideally like to make – to either increase the amount of time and focus you spend on ‘energy givers,’ or to decrease the amount of time and focus you spend on ‘energy drainers?’ What would that make possible for you?
